Original title

Beethoven

A programme presented by the Region of Madrid Ballet directed by the prestigious dancer and choreographer Víctor Ullate.

Two major names underlie this complete programme designed by Víctor Ullate: the German composer Ludwig van Beethoven and the maestro of dancers and choreographers, the French-born Maurice Béjart.
Indeed, the programme included two choreography pieces inspired by Beethoven. The first, ‘Tres’, is the work of Eduardo Lao, assistant director at the company, set to sonatas 2, 5 and 14 (‘Claire de Lune’) by the German composer. The second, ‘Pastoral’, is by Ullate set to the symphony of the same name and is dedicated to flamenco dancer Ángela del Moral.
Ullate later added a further two pieces of his own: ‘Après toi’, an homage to his maestro and mentor for years, Maurice Béjart, and ‘Laberinto’, a pas de deux inspired by the ‘Trio for trumpet, cello and piano, opus 11’ by Beethoven, which delves into couples’ relationships.
