The sketch artist Paco Roca won the National Comic Award with a graphic story on the process of human ageing.
Originally released in France by the publishing house Delcourt in March 2007, Wrinkles did not arrive in Spanish until the following year thanks to publisher Astiberri Ediciones. In the graphic novel, scriptwriter and sketch artist Francisco Martínez Roca, aka Paco Roca, presents a series of images documenting the bittersweet process of human ageing through the protagonist, Emilio, a old man who discovers he has Alzheimer’s.
Thanks to its great quality and sales, selling twenty thousand copies in a year, the work won a large number of awards. These include the best script and best work at the Barcelona Comic Fair and the National Comic Award in 2008. The film “Wrinkles” is being released in 2012. It is based on the comic of the same name, and won two Goya awards – for best adapted screenplay and best animated film.
