Raimon’s great success that became a symbol of opposition to the Franco dictatorship.

Al vent is a song by Valencian singer-songwriter Raimon which became a symbol of the fight against the Franco regime. The song tries to transmit Spanish youth’s longing for freedom. The words are considered to be a support for Catalan culture, being a precursor to the counter-cultural rebellion in the sixties and seventies which led to the ‘Nova cançó’ (New Catalan music).
Written in 1959 and recorded for his first record Raimon: Al Vent, La Pedra, Som, A Cops (1962), the song achieved wide popularity, being adapted and reinterpreted many times.
