Category

Date

1995

Original title

Aires de ida y vuelta

One of the last choreographies created by the dancer and choreographer Rafael Aguilar and his company the Ballet Teatro Español de Rafael Aguilar.

Initially included in the same programme as a further two choreographies, Bolero and Suite Flamenca, Aires de ida y vuelta makes reference to the Spanish songs, dances and folklore that were later recycled in Latin America, thanks to the close ties that united Spain and her American colonies.
The world première was held in Paris and it was Rafael Aguilar’s last work before he died on the second day of staging Bolero, 2nd March 1995. Grace and freshness are the two clearest features.
