Lace and embroidery, 16th-19th centuries

The museum is set in the Mudejar Pavilion, built for the Ibero-American Exhibition of 1929.

The collection comprises lace, ceramics, clothing, work tools, precious metalwork, musical instruments, etc. Besides the permanent collection, there is also an area for temporary exhibitions, along with projection rooms.

    Poster for the festival queen

    This is part of a collection of posters designed to advertise the Easter week, spring fair and bullfighting festivities dating from the 19th and 20th centuries. In cases such as this, the original painting was conserved when the image was transferred to paper.

    Baroque embroidery became a decorative art used to disseminate the declarations of the Council of Trent (1545-1563), as can be seen from this interesting white satin chasuble.

The museum's collection is part of the collective catalogue of the Digital Network of Spanish Museum Collections (CERES), conceived as a space for dissemination which enables visitors to browse the various museum collections using the identifying features of each item (author, type of object, iconography, etc.).
