Since 1957, this museum has been located in buildings adjacent to the old San Francisco Convent (of which the cloister, kitchen and refectory still remain), along with some newly built rooms. Its collection features a wide variety of items, with rooms dedicated to archaeology, religious art, ethnography, ceramics and glass, painting and sculpture, fans, clocks, coins and medals. It also has a section on Galician art (painting, sculpture, the famous Galician ceramics from Sargadelos, precious metalwork and jet). It has a temporary exhibition room.
