A visit through the role of the gypsy woman
The permanent collection of this museum presents the contributions made by the gypsy woman over the history of the gypsy people. In doing so, it focuses on subjects like gypsy esoterism, art, literature, music, traditional medicine and most prominent feminine figures. Likewise, it houses a reproduction of a Sacromonte (gypsy neighbourhood in Granada) cave, typical dress, and a vardo (gypsy caravan) with different utensils and personal belongings. Works by the gypsy sculptor Luis Heredia are also on display.
The museum was inaugurated on 22 November 2006, Gypsy Day in Andalusia.
