A Moorish palace in the heart of Zaragoza. Part of it belongs to the Mudéjar architecture of Aragon, which has been declared UNESCO World Heritage.
It was built as leisure retreat, but was also a defensive building. It is an 11th-century castle-palace. The remains of the fortified area can still be seen. The palace has a quadrangular floorplan with rounded towers, except for one, the Troubadour Tower, which is rectangular. The rooms are arranged around an open courtyard. Its roof, coffering and plasterwork decoration are some of its greatest attractions. It is currently the site of the Aragon Regional Government.
