This monument belongs to the Tarragona archaeological site, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
It is not certain when it was built, but is generally believed to date from the time of Emperor Augustus. It was restored during the reign of Abd-el Rahman III in the 18th century. The name Devil’s Bridge comes from the legend that it was built by the Devil after winning a bet with a maiden for her soul. It was originally 25 kms long, although only 217 m. remain nowadays, rising up 27 m.
