The monastery belonged to the Hieronymite order in the 15th century. It was rebuilt in a neo-Gothic style that harmonises with the original structure.
Various areas of the building are now open to visitors: the Puerta de los Caballeros doorway, which was generally used as the main entrance; the Gothic cloister, built in 1430; the 16th-century Fuente del Rey fountain; the pilgrims’ room; the Arcediano sarcophagus and the modern sanctuary built in the mid-20th century.
