Norman influence in Cuenca
The cathedral is in the Gothic style, and has a distinct French influence.
The Gothic character of the exterior was lost during the innovations carried out during the Renaissance. It has a Latin cross floor plan and a polygonal apse with seven sides. The triforium still survives from the original Norman structure. It is unique in Spain, and its decoration serves to counteract the thrust of the vaulted roof. The main façade has three access doors. The main altar is by Ventura Rodríguez; there are also some magnificent iron grilles from the 15th century. The doors of the chapter rooms are by Berruguete. There is a Byzantine reliquary on display in the Museum.
