The Mies van der Rohe Pavilion is a key work in 20th–century architecture, and a benchmark for generations of architects. It was designed to house the German pavilion at the 1929 Barcelona International Exhibition, and was dismounted when the exhibition ended. From 1980, Oriol Bohigas, in the Barcelona city Council, was keen that it should be rebuilt.
