This monument belongs to Mérida’s archaeological site, which has the UNESCO World Heritage designation.
It is about 5 km from the city of Mérida, built in the Charca de la Albufera pond. It gets its name from a plaque found in the 18th century, which called on the goddess Proserpina. The wall is made of clay and concrete, covered with granite ashlars forming a slope. The water reaches Mérida through a large hydraulic pipe and Los Milagros aqueduct.
