Remains of the temple to Mars
In its structure, this chapel contains the remains of the Roman temple dedicated to the god Mars.
It was built in the 17th century, and remains of the temple to Mars were incorporated into the façade. These are two marble columns, two Corinthian capitals and reliefs with floral motifs and medallions featuring the head of Medusa. It also has scenes of war and two inscriptions on the frieze, one dating from the Roman era and another later one indicating that the chapel is dedicated to Santa Eulalia, the patron saint of Mérida, and not to the god Mars.
