A spectacular aqueduct
This aqueduct was built following the height of the terrain and different materials were used, such as brick, stonework, masonry and natural rock. It belongs to Mérida’s archaeological site, which has the UNESCO World Heritage designation.
It has three rows of arches, and used to have distribution basins and settling basins with staggered layers to decant the water. In the Albarregas Valley area it is 25 metres high. The materials used to build it - granite and brick - give it a colourful look. The semi-circular arches are reinforced by arches of different heights.
