The birthplace of queens and literati, Madrigal de las Altas Torres owes its name to the monumental tower crowning this church, which is also interesting for its Mudéjar elements.

Built in the 13th century in the Romanesque-Mudéjar style, it subsequently underwent various reforms. The most important of these took place in the 15th century and included the three naves (in two sections, one Gothic and the other Renaissance) and the rectangular sanctuary.
The most important features of the church are its Mudéjar elements. This is the style of the two side apses in the sanctuary, with blocked-in brick arcades and corner friezes.
Also Mudéjar is the austere tower-belltower in three sections, which stands at a height of almost 50 metres and has very few windows and abutments, reminiscent of the French abbey churches.
The interior houses some splendid and highly intricate Mudéjar coffered ceilings dating from the 16th century, which were fully restored in 2004.
