World Heritage

Built around 850AD, it is one of the most interesting examples of pre-Romanesque Asturian art.

Santa Cristina de Lena is one of the historical monuments of Oviedo and the Kingdom of Asturias, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is built in the style of the time of Ramiro I, and its most outstanding feature is the iconostasis, a triple archway supported on marble columns which separates the presbytery from the congregation. The Asturian Pre-Romanesque information room is located in the old Cobertoria railway station in Lena. It is a single-storey edifice with four rooms, each dealing with a different subject to introduce visitors to the history and art that gave rise to Santa Cristina de Lena church.
