Located in Oviedo Cathedral, it is one of the historical monuments of Oviedo and the Kingdom of Asturias, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
It was King Alfonso II’s court chapel. It is a rectangular building with two floors known as Santa Leocadia Chapel or Crypt, and San Miguel Chapel.
It houses the Cathedral Treasure, including important jewels like the Cross of the Angels (symbol of Oviedo), the Victory Cross (emblem of Asturias) and the Agate Box. The Holy Ark is also important. It contains Christian relics, including what is known as the Sudarium of Oviedo (now kept in a special container for its conservation).
