The Bilbao Fine Arts Museum is celebrating its 110th anniversary with this exhibition that combines art and literature, and which can be admired by following an alphabetical itinerary through eras and masters throughout the history of art.

A new way of displaying the museum’s collection, providing a different way of looking at our renovated installations. This is the first activity of the exhibition to celebrate the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum’s 110th anniversary and also reopen the old building after refurbishments over the last few months.

Commissioned by the writer Kirmen Uribe, the exhibition replaces the normal criteria for organising exhibitions (chronological, by school or artist) with an extended alphabet of 31 letters. A letter in Basque, Spanish, English and French has been found for each of them, which is then used as a reference to select works of the collection displayed in each room.
