Murillo's. 4th Centenary

Murillo, «Cuatro figuras en un escalón», Kimbell Art Museum

The Museum of Fine Arts of Seville is holding the first anthological exhibition dedicated to the Sevillian painter in his home city.

Until mid-March, the exhibition “Murillo's 4th Centenary” can be seen at the Museum of Fine Arts of Seville, Murillo’s home city. It includes 55 canvases by the artist, on loan from private collections and institutions in countries such as England, France, Germany, Mexico, the United States and Spain.
Curated by Ignacio Cano and Valme Muñoz, this exhibition joins the 17 pieces from the Capuchins exhibition that can be seen in the museum’s Room V. This exhibition aims to increase knowledge of the most important Sevillian Baroque painter in his own city, as many of his paintings were taken to other places very early on.
This exhibition is the first anthological exhibition of Murillo in Seville, with a selection of his most representative works. Furthermore, this exhibition establishes links with other places in the city that house his masterpieces.
