Exhibition: Robert Capa in Colour

An opportunity to discover a lesser-known side of Robert Capa: his colour photography. Although it was his black and white images of war that brought him to fame, a large part of the photojournalist’s work is in colour.

Starting in 1941 Robert Capa (Hungary, 1913 – Indochina, 1954) began taking colour snapshots of everyday scenes and moments of pleasure. Women on the beach, horse races, ski resorts, and famous figures of post-war society, such as Pablo Picasso, Ernest Hemingway, Humphrey Bogart, Ava Gardner, and Truman Capote. Some of these pictures were published in women’s or travel magazines. Others had never been shown in public until recently.

The exhibition includes an audiovisual display with extracts from one of the few extant radio interviews with Capa, alongside some personal documents.
