Menéndez Pelayo International University and the Archivo General de Indias are organising this lecture series to accompany the exhibition “The Longest Voyage” on the first trip around the world by Magellan and Elcano.

From September 2019 to February 2020, this series of nine lectures will explain the work of different scholars on the world before the expedition, the voyage itself, and its impact on the geopolitics and science of its time. To complement the lectures, attendees can take a guided tour of the exhibition “The Longest Voyage: the first circumnavigation of the globe”, where museum displays and documents illustrate different aspects of the subjects discussed.
