Workshops for school students at Arqua

Gallery in the National Museum of Underwater Archaeology, ARQUA. Cartagena © Ministerio de Cultura

The National Museum of Underwater Archaeology holds educational workshops for school students, adapted for different age groups and stages.

The visits are available throughout the school year, and take about 90 minutes. They consist of a guided tour of the museum, followed by an educational activity, except for 6th-form students, who only take the tour. The maximum capacity is 25 preschool students, and 30 students from later years.

A workshop has been created for preschool students, led by a character called “Rita the Amphora”, in which they learn how the museum works and are introduced in a fun way to the world of underwater archaeology.

Primary School groups can enjoy two activities: “Ready to weigh anchor!”, in which they learn what boat crews do, and “Arqualinda”, showing the history of humanity through the discoveries in the museum.

Secondary School students have to analyse and interpret the pieces they have seen in the museum, applying what they learned on the tour.
