The Prado Museum is presenting works donated by Hans Rudolf Gerstenmaier, a unique set of works that has permitted the museum to incorporate painters such as Anglada-Camarasa, Eduardo Chicharro, Ignacio Zuloaga and Joaquín Mir to the collection.
Room 60 of the Villanueva building at the Prado Museum is showing the 11 paintings donated by the German businessman resident in Spain, Hans Rudolf Gerstenmaier. This donation is notable for its late 19th- and early 20th-century works, which enhance the museum’s more modern works of art and the later part of its collection of Spanish paintings.
The donated paintings include one of the best examples of early Darío de Regoyos, “Around Brussels”, a picture that was unknown to the public until now. Others include “Manola” by Zuloaga; “The Café Concert” by the innovative Anglada-Camarasa; and “Torre Solà. Montornès”, by the greatest landscape artist of his generation, Joaquín Mir.
