Harakiri

A combination of dance, music and words with a commitment to activism through art. Written by María Velasco and directed by Les Impuxibles (Clara and Ariadna Peya).

This is not about suicide for Japanese reasons of honour (harakiri), but rather about a mother with another type of cut to her stomach: a caesarean scar. Tatuaje indeleble de la creadora (The indelible tattoo of the creator). An orphan, knowing that such behaviour occurs more often in youth, tells himself that "this death was his" and that perhaps he belongs more to the world of his mother than to the world of the living. The play explores various questions relating to suicide to dramatise a political vision of it and a critique of the power exercised to ensure life, which in turn produces infidelity.
