The trial

A play based on the novel by Franz Kafka, with screenplay and direction by Ernesto Caballero. This version is inspired by a story the prison chaplain tells the protagonist in the penultimate chapter of the novel.

A bank manager must appear in court to clarify a situation with an unknown cause. From that moment, the protagonist's life is trapped in an absurd and endless trial that includes the accused's conviction, in which he decides to take charge of his case himself. The protagonist experiences pointlessness and frustration until he is sent to a quarry on the outskirts of town, where he is executed. He manifests a peculiar guilt right up to the end.
