2021-2022 season at the National Centre for Music Dissemination. Bach Vermut. Christian Schmitt (organ)

Auditorio Nacional © Ministerio de Cultura y Deporte

The National Centre for Music Dissemination is once again renewing its commitment to contemporary Spanish music with a programme packed with around 275 activities that are to take place in 29 cities in Spain, and 8 in other countries.

The season brings with it three cross-cutting celebrations: a commemoration of the birth of Alfonso X eight centuries ago with an in-depth look at Las Cantigas; a spotlight on Antonio Rodríguez de Hita, emphasising his importance as a composer of sacred and theatre music and as one of the creators of the zarzuela, a traditional type of Spanish musical comedy; and the final part of the programme of keyboard music by Johann Sebastian Bach that began last season. The new editions of the classical programmes from the National Centre for Music Dissemination will once again bring performances by great ensembles and soloists both from Spain and further afield. For example Universo Barroco, Liceo de Cámara XXI, Bach Vermut, Jazz in the Auditorium, Andalucía Flamenca, Fronteras, the Lied Programme (at the Teatro de la Zarzuela), Series 20/21 (in the Reina Sofía National Art Museum) and organ concerts in different cathedrals across the country. Resident artists Mauricio Sotelo and Lina Tur Bonet, together with Musica Alch, will also be participating. In all there will be 216 concerts, with 49 world premières, and the revival of 54 compositions from historical musical heritage that are to be premièred for the first time for modern audiences. The CNDM performances will also be a part of the festivals and conferences on early, baroque and contemporary music held in Alicante, Badajoz, Barcelona, Betanzos, Cádiz, Granada, León, Malpartida de Cáceres, Oviedo, Salamanca, Seville and Úbeda and throughout the country. Furthermore, they’ll be visiting cities outside Spain too, such as Basle, Dubai, Potsdam, Elvas, Milan, Palermo, Naples and Rome.
