Ernesto Caballero directs Blanca Portillo as Bertolt Brecht’s Mother Courage in this version of one of the 20th century’s most iconic plays.

This harsh epic drama is set during the Thirty Years’ War. The central character, who has a cart, makes her living as a pedlar, taking advantage of the misery around her. However, she ends up paying a high price for her avarice: the life of her three children. Mother Courage and her Children is praised as an anti-war drama about the cost of war and human avarice, a story which still resonates today.
