The Barrié Foundation in A Coruña presents a selection of 90 works from the Victoria and Albert Museum’s collection of Dutch and Flemish Golden Age drawings.

After its debut in London and its visit to the USA, the exhibition reaches Spain in 2019, coinciding with the 350th anniversary of Rembrandt’s death, and the 450th anniversary of the death of Pieter Bruegel the Elder. Drawings by both artists, as well as by Rubens and Van Dyck, appear in the exhibition, which ranges from portraits, figure studies and genre scenes to landscapes and botanical studies, and includes designs for stained glass, tapestries and engravings.

Divided into five large subject-related sections, the exhibition offers an overview of an extraordinary period in the artistic production of the Low Countries, beginning in the 16th and 17th centuries, and concluding with a selection of 18th and 19th century drawings that demonstrate the continued influence of the Golden Age during this period of political changes.
