The “Open for restoration” programme offers free guided tours of monuments that are in the process of restoration.

The visits are to the Monastery of San Pedro de Arlanza (Hortigüela, Burgos), which was founded in the 10th century and became one of the most important monasteries in the Kingdom of Castile. Among other activities, visitors will be able to see the work that is being done to improve accessibility and the conditions of the tourist route. The visits last approximately 50 minutes. The meeting point with the guide is the entrance to the monastery.

“Open for restoration” is an initiative promoted by the Spanish Cultural Heritage Institute (IPCE), which shows the public the work of restorers, architects and archaeologists taking place in monuments and cultural heritage sites of special value.
