During the third week in July, Burgos hosts the "City of Burgos" International Folk Festival, where more than 800 members of folk groups from all over the world come together.
The event is held on such emblematic stages as Plaza de San Juan Square, the Paseo del Espolón Pavilion and the Principal Theatre. An unusual novelty in the programme is the annual invitation of a group from a city elsewhere in the world, also called Burgos. There are other Burgoses in Italy, Honduras, Bolivia, Mexico, Venezuela and the Philippines.
