Exhibition: Picasso’s 42 sketches for Guernica. 80th Anniversary

Part of the exposition "42 bocetos de Picasso para el Guernica" © Ricardo Ordóñez

To help make Guernica accessible to younger generations, the Fadrique de Basilea Book Museum in Burgos is exhibiting 42 sketches that Picasso made before beginning one of the most powerful works of modern art.

A universal symbol of protest against the tragedies caused by war, Picasso’s work has been on display since 1981 in the Reina Sofía Museum in Madrid, and this year marks its 80th anniversary.

As well as viewing the sketches that helped to form the large final painting, visitors can reflect on Picasso’s work in a mural where they can create their version of Guernica.
