View of the exhibition 'The Reefs of Time. Archaeology, Photography, and Literature in Mérida' © Museo Nacional de Arte Romano

Showing visitors how the passage of time affects the monuments and town of Mérida. This is what the exhibition 'The Reefs of Time', at the National Museum of Roman Art, sets out to do.

Visitors can see large-scale photographs of Mérida’s monuments, archaeological items from the museum’s collection, and historical documents. The display begins in the 4th century, with the oldest known texts on the subject, and continues to the present. It presents thought-provoking evidence of the changes to some of the town’s heritage sites.
