This historic archive is the repository for Spain's film heritage. Its screening room is the Cine Doré cinema.
It was created in 1953, and its main function is to recover, investigate, conserve and promote awareness of Spain's film heritage. It schedules screenings of a wide range of films, and also has a museum, library and a graphic archive.
Its enormous collection of material is constantly being increased thanks to today's modern productions and the recovery of old footage. It also has an important collection of sound recordings, and objects related to the history of film and its precursors.
