Valls preserves an interesting historic centre, but perhaps what has made the town more popular are the 'castells', human towers of great beauty and difficulty. Outstanding among the buildings of interest in Valls are the chapel of El Roser, with glazed tiles from the 17th century which commemorate the battle of Lepanto; the church of Sant Joan, which dates from the 16th century and houses the image of Mare de Déu de la Candela, from the 13th century; and the church of El Lledó, built in the 14th century.
