National Drama Centre 2022/2023 season

National Drama Centre 2022/2023 season

The National Drama Centre offers a season featuring a creative act of resistance against nothingness through emotions and feelings, resisting to achieve happiness. New developments this year include our Pases Dramáticos (Drama Passes), enabling you to buy tickets for various shows with discounts.

The 2022-2023 programme includes 23 shows, with 12 premieres, completed with the Titerescena family theatre programme. Our own productions include Valle-Inclán's “La cabeza del dragón” (The dragon's head); "400 días sin luz” (400 days without electricity), by Vanessa Espín; "Breve historia del ferrocarril español" (A brief history of Spanish railways) by Joan Yago; and "Los columpios" (The swings), a piece resulting from the second "New drama" educational programme for children.

Our season will also address themes such as resisting violence, as fiction is essential for changing reality, through works such as "Farm Fatale", "Los Pálidos" (The pale ones), “Fundamentalmente fantasías para la resistencia” (Fundamentally fantasies for resistance), “Obra infinita” (Infinite work), “Algunos días” (Some days) and "Falsestuff". We will also stage the award-winning “Madre de azúcar” (Sugar Mother), lifting the taboo on disability and motherhood; and "Entre chien et loup", a work mixing theatrical and cinematic formats. The Hungarian duo Kornél Mundruczó and Kta Wéber are returning with "Pieces of a Woman", and we welcome "Sovrimpressioni" from Rome, addressing how artists deal with aging. There will be an opportunity to see "Yerma" by Juan Carlos Martel Bayod, and "Karaoke Elusia", a story about mental health by Oriol Puig. Other shows will include "Oasis de la impunidad" (Oasis of impunity), a reflection in dance on the nature of violence, and "Harakiri" about the stigma of suicide.

This programme will be complemented by social and educational activities for the public and professionals through our Dramatic Action programme.
