"Dancer, choreographer and teacher. She gave Spanish dance classes in Sweden, Israel, France and Japan, where she also created different choreography. "

Born in Madrid in March 1933, her real name is Benita Jabato Muñoz. She studied at the Royal Higher School of Dramatic Arts and Dance in Madrid, graduating in 1948 and winning the extraordinary prize. She extended her training with the Pericet family and classical dance studies with Karen Taft. She worked at the Antonio Ballet between 1953 and 1959. She started to choreograph in 1960, an activity she combined with teaching. In these early years she created: Benamor, El Barberillo de Lavapiés and Pasión Gitana, produced for María Rosa, Lola Flores and Paquita Rico, amongst others. She was the Director of the Spanish National Ballet together with Aurora Pons and Nana Lorca from 1993 to 1997. In 1980 she was recruited as Spanish dance professor at the National Ballet under the direction of María de Ávila. She created Solo (1984), Danza IX (1985) and Chacona (1990) for this company.
