"Soprano. She had a brilliant career singing in the most important theatres and concert halls in the world."

Her full name was María Victoria de los Ángeles López García. She was born in Barcelona in November 1923. At the age of 12 she started to attend the Conservatory of the Barcelona Liceo. At the tender age of 16 she made her debut at the Victoria Theatre in Barcelona with the opera “La Bohème” by Puccini. She was awarded first prize at the International Singing Competition in Geneva, which gave her career an international dimension. She acted at the Covent Garden in London and the Scala in Milan. Her repertoire included a large number of operas. Thanks to its sweet timbre, her voice adapted to any score. After retiring from opera in 1980, she continued to sing almost until her death in 2005.
