Victor Ullate he was born in Zaragoza in 1947. He was a disciple of Maurice Béjart, for whose company he interpreted numerous roles over 14 years. Over his long career he has become a maestro for dance figures such as Tamara Rojo, Ruth Maroto, Ana Noya, Lucía Lacarra and Ángel Corella. He danced the principal roles in classical repertoire, including the Bluebird in Sleeping Beauty with choreography by Rudolf Nureyev. In 1979 he was commissioned with Carmen Roche to create and direct the National Classical Ballet, now the National Dance Company, where he remained until 1983.
