" Writer, playwright, poet, art critic, producer and filmmaker. As a poet he was member of the "novísimos" group."

Born in Elche (Alicante) in 1946, he studied Law and Philosophy and Arts at the Complutense University in Madrid. He worked as professor of Spanish Literature at Oxford University for three years. At the University of the Basque country he taught Philosophy of Art. He was among those selected in 1970 by the Catalan publisher and critic José María Castellet for the work "Nueve novísimos poetas españoles” (Nine brand-new Spanish poets). He has received the Barral, Azorín and Herralde awards. In 1985 he started contributing to the newspaper "El País". He writes film and television reviews for the magazine "Fotogramas". He made his debut as a film director with the feature film "Sagitario" (2001), starring Ángela Molina and Eusebio Poncela. His second film, “El dios de madera”, was premiered in the summer of 2010.
