Although she was born in Montreal in 1974, her parents are Spanish and she has lived in Madrid. She started studying at the Víctor Ullate Dance Centre. When she was 17 years old she became prima ballerina and completed her studies in European schools. In 1966 she joined the Scottish Ballet where she was able to perform classical ballet, proving her great maturity on stage. In 1997 she joined the English National Ballet. In 2000 she became the star ballerina at the Royal Ballet in London. Since September 2012, she has been the director of the English National Ballet, where she is also prima ballerina. Her interpretation of "Snow White" and the spectacle "Tango Rojo" have been among her most memorable successes.
