Sonia Grande was born in Oviedo in 1964. She studied the dramatic arts at the Real Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático (RESAD). Her career began at the Teatro Español in Madrid, as an actress and wardrobe assistant. In the 1980s she was also a TV presenter. In the 90s she became a film costume designer, working with such distinguished Spanish directors as Pedro Almodóvar, José Luis Cuerda, Alejandro Amenábar, Icíar Bollaín and Fernando Trueba. Nominated for a Goya award on several occasions, she won in 1999 for ’The Girl of Your Dreams’. She designed the costumes for various productions by the Spanish National Ballet. In 2008 she worked on ’Vicky, Cristina, Barcelona’ by Woody Allen, who hired her again for his films ’Midnight in Paris’ (2011), ’To Rome with Love’ (2012) and ’Magic in the Moonlight’ (2014). In 2009 she worked on the Hollywood production ’It's Complicated’, directed by Nancy Meyers.
