Date of birth

1944

"Painter. She was awarded Spain’s National Plastic Arts Award in 1993."

She was born in Valencia in 1944. She was educated at the San Jorge School of Fine Arts in Barcelona, and began her artistic career based on experimentation and geometric shapes. At the beginning of the 1980s, she left for the United States where she worked on 'Las Meninas', a series of works dedicated to the in-depth study of the work of Velázquez. This was followed by another work based on the Alhambra and its architecture. She is interested in selecting and emphasising elements which define the tensions of action. This explains the attention she devotes to bulls and the bullfighter’s red cape in her next collection. Since 1990, she has mainly devoted herself to recovering artistic spaces, such as the one in Vélez Blanco castle (Almería). Since then, she has maintained a close connection between installations and her pictorial work.
