Rossy de Palma was born in 1964, in Palma de Mallorca. Her real name is Rosa Elena García Echave. In the 80s she formed part of the band “Peor Imposible” and moved to Madrid. During the movida period, she met Pedro Almodóvar, who offered her a part in his film Law of Desire (1987). Her relationship with the director would be long and productive, including the films Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, Kika, and The Flower of my Secret. She was nominated for a Goya Award for her performance in the last two films. She has worked with directors including Alex de la Iglesia, Robert Altman, Mike Figgis, Laure Charpentier, Terry Gilliam, and Mehdi Charef. In 1998 she won the prize for best actress at the Locarno Film Festival for her role in Hors Jeu. She has also appeared as a catwalk model for designers such as Jean Paul Gaultier, Alexander McQueen, Thierry Mugler, and Palomo Spain. In theatre and opera, she has worked with directors including Emilio Sagi (El cantor de México) and Damiano Michieletto (The Threepenny Opera), and has acted in leading international venues. In 2015, Milan’s Piccolo Teatro commissioned her to create the show Resilienza d’Amore.
