Ricardo Anadón Frutos was born in Barcelona in 1918. He studied architecture in Madrid, and graduated in 1946. Immediately after he moved to Huelva, where he made his professional career and spent most of his life. He was involved in the construction of two buildings for the city of Huelva: the Colombino football stadium (1957) and the Monumental bullring (1968). In 1956 the San Fernando Royal Academy of Fine Arts appointed him correspondent academician in Huelva. The highlights of his work as a municipal architect and urban planner include the extension to the Plaza de las Monjas square, the construction of the church of San Sebastián and the rebuilding of the chapel of San Antonio Abad. He also designed the building for the Costa de la Luz hotel, as well as several residential neighbourhoods. He died in Huelva on 16 August 2013.
