Sanchez Ferlosio was born in Rome (Italy) in 1927, where his father, writer Rafael Sánchez Mazas, was a correspondant of the newspaper ABC. He received his Phd in Philosophy and Letters from the Complutense University in Madrid, where he came into contact with Ignacio Aldecoa, Jesús Fernández Santos and Carmen Martín Gaite. All of these are members of the Generation of ’50. Together with Aldecoa assumed the head of the magazine “Revista Española”, where writers of the period are made known. In 1955, he was awarded the Nadal Award for “El Jarama”, a novel following numerous scientific and linguistic studies as a literary milestone of post-war Spain. In 1994, he published “Vendrán más años malos y nos harán más ciegos”, for which he received the National Essay Award. He collaborates regularly in newspapers and magazines. He died in Madrid in 2019.
