He was born in Madrid on 22 May 1913. Cinema was his hobby and he made it his job by collaborating often in Spanish film newspapers ("Popular films", "Films selectos"), and in "Voz", "ABC" and "Claridad" newspapers. In 1933 he founded the Group of Independent Writers (GECI). He started working on short films in 1935. During the Civil War he was part of a team of documentary filmmakers led by Antonio del Amo for the Republic's government. He directed his first film in 1941, hired by CIFESA, a Valencian production company: "El hombre que se quiso matar". After the dictatorship he dealt with celibacy in "La boda del señor cura" (1978) and the loss of paternal authority in "Hijos de papa" (1979). He died in 1986.
