"Opera singer. He is renowned as one of the greatest tenors of all time. His career is filled with successes and awards."

Born in Madrid in 1941, his family moved to Mexico in 1949. There, he studied at the National Music Conservatory. His debut came as a baritone at the Degollado Theatre in Guadalajara (Mexico) in 1959. He went on to join the Tel Aviv Opera in 1962. When he had already gained great international renown, he recorded the official song for the World Cup held in Spain in 1982. He has performed at the most important opera houses around the world with a repertoire of nearly one hundred different roles. Domingo has been directed by the most prestigious directors such as Herbert von Karajan and Zubin Mehta. Together with José Carreras and Luciano Pavorotti, Plácido Domingo formed The Three Tenors, the trio that made opera more accessible to a wider audience. Domingo has been a member of the San Fernando Royal Academy of Fine Arts since 2003.
