Date of birth

"Photographer. She focuses her lens mainly on greenhouses, landscapes and plants, and through these elements, on water, light, life and death."

She was born in Madrid. She started working as a photographer in 1980, after a number of years devoted to drawing. Two years later she began her first series, 'Paisajes' ('Landscapes'), in which water is already a predominant theme. Pilar Pequeño divides her work into open series, with nature as a constant feature. She always used black and white until 2010, when she ventured into colour, extending its use beyond the traditional forms. Her work can be seen in numerous galleries and in various public collections such as the Reina Sofía Art Centre, IVAM (Institute of Modern Art in Valencia), the Cualladó collection and the EXIT collection.
