" Choreographer, dancer and company director. Renowned around the world for her art and style. Her performance for Queen Elizabeth II of England stands out as a touring highlight."

Born in San Sebastián in 1912, she was La Argentinita’s sister, with whose company she debuted. Her early choreography included The Cuckold’s Fair (1943) with a libretto by Federico García Lorca and designs by Joan Junyer for the Ballet Russe in Montecarlo. She choreographed Bolero (1943) alongside her sister. After La Argentinita’s death in 1945 she formed her own company, the Ballet Español de Pilar López, with which she toured many countries. Her creations for the group included El Embozado (1950) and Suite Española (1956). She choreographed Concierto de Aranjuez for the Spanish National Ballet. She stopped dancing in 1974 and only came back three times to review some choreography. She died in 2008.

Two Silver Bowl awards in New York for the best Spanish dance interpreter.
Gold Medal from the Círculo de Bellas Artes, Madrid.
Choreography Award (1954).
Gold Medal from the International Institute of Culture in Paris (1965)
